Stage III Mandatory Water Conservation

As of 3/29/2013 – Still at Stage III Water Conservation level.

Due to the recent heat wave and lack of precipitation the Company is increasing its Mandatory Water Conservation level from a Stage II to Stage III effective July 10, 2012. This means that outside water use is restricted to hand held hose only for no more than 1hour between 7PM and 7AM. Washing of walkways, driveways, motor vehicles and filling of pools is also forbidden. The Company will allow certain exceptions provided you make arrangements with us first. This restriction will run until further notice and should there be any changes in the status of the restriction you will be properly notified at that time.

We all appreciated the lack of snow this winter, but the downside is the effect on water supplies everywhere. The average precipitation for our area from January through June is approx 21 inches. As of June 28, we have only had about 17.5 inches of precipitation in 2012, which is roughly 20% less than average. While we’ve had a few rainy during the past couple of months, it hasn’t been enough to have a significant effect on water supply. Milford Water Company would like to thank all of its customers for their cooperation in our Conservation Efforts and by working together we ensure that we have enough water for all of our customer needs during the upcoming summer season.

FUN FACT: Did you know that an 1/8 inch hole at 60 psi will waste approx 74,000 gallons of water in 3 months.
